Scope & Purpose
We’re looking for a reliable, hands-on Tugboat Mate to support safe and efficient vessel operations. This role works closely with the Captain and crew to assist with navigation, deck operations, and day-to-day maintenance. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in fast-moving marine environments.
Pay: $550-$750 Depending on Experience
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain with navigation and vessel maneuvering during operations
- Perform pre-departure safety and equipment checks
- Handle deck operations including rigging, line handling, docking, and undocking
- Monitor weather and waterway conditions and report changes as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe deck environment
- Support routine maintenance and repairs alongside the crew
- Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and operational procedures
- Respond effectively during emergency situations
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Tugboat Mate or in a similar maritime role preferred
- Strong working knowledge of deck operations and basic mechanical systems
- Ability to rig and handle equipment safely and efficiently
- Clear communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends and holidays
- Valid maritime credential with a minimum 200-Ton endorsement required
- Anchor-handling experience a plus, but not required
