Pay: $30-$35 an hour, depending on Experience.
Overview
A Control Tower Operator is responsible for coordinating marine traffic, anchor handling and offshore support operations to ensure safe & efficient operations. The position serves as the communication and operational hub between the bridge, anchor handling vessels, deck crews, and crane operators.
Typical Duties/Responsibilities
- Coordinate anchor handling and vessel movements during heavy-lift and barge repositioning operations
- Maintain constant communication with:
- Barge Superintendent
- Barge Foreman
- Crane operators
- Dive teams
- Anchor handling tugs
- Monitor anchor patterns, winch tensions, and mooring configurations
- Record operational activities, vessel movements, weather updates, and shift reports
- Assist barge foreman during rig moves and anchor deployment/retrieval
- Monitor exclusion zones and marine traffic around the worksite
- Coordinate emergency communications and response procedures
- Ensure all operations comply with company safety policies and offshore regulations
- Support SIMOPS (simultaneous operations) planning and coordination
- Maintain radio watch and communication logs throughout the shift
- Assist in weather monitoring and operational risk assessments
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of offshore pipe-lay and marine construction operations
- Understanding of anchor handling and mooring systems
- Familiar with OARS Survey System
- Ability to multi-task
